How to Use the Price Per Day Calculator
The price tag on a product only tells part of the story. A $300 robot vacuum that lasts 5 years costs just $0.16 per day — less than a cup of coffee. Meanwhile, a $150 budget model that dies after 2 years costs $0.21 per day. The "expensive" option is actually cheaper.
This is the core insight behind our Price-Per-Value methodology. And now you can run the same calculation on any product.
When to Use This Calculator
- Choosing between budget vs. premium — see which one actually gives you more value per dollar
- Justifying a big purchase — a $1,200 mattress lasting 10 years is only $0.33/day
- Comparing repair vs. replace — is it worth spending $80 to fix something or $200 on a new one?
- Budgeting for recurring replacements — know the true annual cost of items you replace regularly
The Math Behind It
The calculation is straightforward:
Daily Cost = Purchase Price ÷ (Years of Use × 365)
Monthly Cost = Daily Cost × 30.44
Yearly Cost = Purchase Price ÷ Years of Use
We use 365 days per year and 30.44 days per month (the average). For comparison mode, the product with the lower daily cost is flagged as the better value.
